Beginning in 1979 Kinney Shoes sponsored four Regionals with the first 8 boy and 8 girl finishers from each Regional advancing to the National Championship to determine the country's best high school individual.  In 1993 the series was renamed the Foot Locker Regionals and National Championship.  Since 2004 ten individuals have advanced to the National Championship for a field of forty.  Minnesotans have always competed in the Midwest Regional with runners from Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, Colorado, Kansas, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, and Michigan.  (I have very limited results and would love to get results for years that I am missing).  In 2021 the series was called the EastBay Nationals and since 2022 the Champs Sports Nationals/
