Interscholastic State
The Minneapolis City Conference archives have results back to 1900. Jeff Renlund chose to classify the first State Meet as the 1907 Meet when Dick Grant, the University of Minnesota Track Coach, expanded the meet to include private schools and began recruiting non metro area schools to the meet. It was sponsored by the University of Minnesota from 1907 to 1922 with the following exceptions: 1913 (no reason given, but the void was filled by the traditional meet at Carleton and by the Twin Cities Meet) and 1917 (the U of M decided to cancel their sponsorship due to World War I. There were two meets referred to as state meets that year, one at Carleton College on May 19th and one at Shattuck on May 26th).
