MSHSL District Meets
Prior to 1929 the MSHSL Meet was a bring your whole team event. This led to the need for multiple heat finals and long meets. Beginning in 1929, the MSHSL required athletes to earn their way into the State Meet through Districts and Regional Meets. Initially the three major cities (St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Duluth) each had their own qualifying meets and the rest of the state was divided up into geographical regions. In the eight geographical regions, athletes qualified for their Regional through District Meets. When the MSHSL went to multiple classes, the larger class advanced directly to Regions/Sections and only the smaller class retained District Meets. In 1992 District Meets were renamed Subsections and you may find them at their own link.

Beginning in the spring of 1976 most AA schools went directly to the Region Meet and Districts became exclusively Class A (and Class B) competitions.
Anybody who has copies of district meets that are missing from my collection are encouraged to send them to this site: MNpreptrack@hotmail.com
